The Scottish Seabird Centre has announced the appointment of leading wildlife conservationist Susan Davies as its new chief executive.

Susan has extensive senior leadership experience in public and third sector organisations, most recently as director of conservation for the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

Announcing the appointment, David Windmill, chair of the Scottish Seabird Centre, said: “The trustees and staff are absolutely delighted that Susan will be joining us as CEO in January.

“She brings a wealth of experience in the conservation sector and has an in-depth understanding of the challenges faced by our wildlife.

“Her knowledge of policy and strategic development will prove invaluable in helping achieve our goal of extending our focus on the wider marine environment and highlighting the increasing threats faced by our seabirds and other marine wildlife.”

Speaking about her new role, Susan said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to join and lead the Scottish Seabird Centre team at a time when the threats faced by our internationally important seabirds and marine environment are increasing.

“Public awareness of the value of our marine environments is on the rise and we have a real opportunity to contribute to an increase in awareness and care of these environments. I am looking forward to working with the team, members, and partners to continue to develop the centre’s excellent work.”
