New head takes over helm on 30 September

Inverclyde CVS has announced its new chief executive.

Charlene Elliott will join the organisation from Kibble where she is head of corporate funding and development.

She takes over from Ian Bruce, who left the CVS Inverclyde post in August to take on the chief executive role with Glasgow CVS.

Inverclyde born and bred, Elliot takes over the role from 30 September.

She said: "I am both proud and privileged to be joining this fantastic team.

“I hope to bring the extensive experience and knowledge I have gained working at senior management level in large national charities, to ‘make a difference’ for the benefit of my home community where I live. I am passionate about the voluntary sector and look forward to working with the Board and partners of CVS Inverclyde, to listen to and respond to the needs of this vibrant local community.”

Liz Bowden, trustee, said: “The new role is all about building on the good relationships already established, and about creating and linking opportunities within our communities, for our staff and with the volunteers.

“Charlene’s proven ability to do this whilst managing a complex and busy organisation, meant she was the perfect candidate for the post. And, being a local lass, we are confident she will be able to start making a difference right from the outset because of her local knowledge. We are delighted to welcome her to the Third Sector in Inverclyde.”

Elliot also worked at Cornerstone Community Care for four years before becoming part of a five-strong team who set up and established the Beatson Cancer Charity, first as Head of Fundraising and then Head of Development, deputising for the CEO.
