The charity had been fighting for its future but is now planning to develop after securing a new home and appointing a new boss
A charity which has battled for survival is embarking on an exciting new chapter.
Fife Gingerbread is looking to the future in their new premises in Glenrothes and has appointed a new leader at the helm.
The organisation, which has supports families throughout the region over the past three decades, has brought all its staff under one roof at Craig Mitchell House and appointed Jacqui Hardie as strategic manager.
Hardie replaces former chief executive Rhona Cunningham, who retired earlier this year.
Fife Gingerbread faced a fight for survival at the beginning of this year after being hit hard by funding cuts.
But now the charity is planning to continue to develop after securing funding from Fife Council and the Scottish Government.
Hardie said: “I am delighted to head up Fife Gingerbread to continue and develop projects with parents.
“Our new base in Glenrothes allows our team to share ideas and work more closely together while still working across Fife. We’ve had amazing support from local businesses and partners this year- I am excited about the opportunities ahead!”
Hardie has previously headed up operations for charity Foursquare in Edinburgh, and has over ten years’ experience in project management in housing with Bield and Fife Council.
Fife Gingerbread has several partnership projects to support lone parents and disadvantaged families, including the Fife Teen Parent Project, which is nearing its 10th Anniversary.
This month also sees the launch of the Heat and Eat Christmas Appeal- where Fife Gingerbread identifies their most vulnerable families in the area and provides a festive package.
“No bairn should go without the basics,” Hardie added. “At Christmas, our teams work harder and harder to ensure that presents can be opened, bellies are full and homes are warm. Every year it gets harder and every year there are more families need our help. Against all odds the teams are more determined to make sure every bairn has a happy memory this Christmas.”
