New leadership at centre for social innovation

All change at the top

The Melting Pot’s Claire Carpenter is stepping into a new role as executive director of social innovation, the social enterprise has announced.

Carpenter’s replacement will be Helen Denny who has run her own company, Not9to5, for the past decade, helping individuals and organisations navigate new ways of working.

She joined The Melting Pot’s coworking community in 2016, has been a facilitator of its Good Ideas incubator programme, and most recently worked as the organisation’s strategic innovation lead.

Based in Edinburgh, the organisation supports social innovation as well as offering office space to social firms.

Denny said: “The Melting Pot has been like a second home to me since relocating to Edinburgh from London. It has provided me with an inspiring space to work, to develop my business and to connect me with a brilliant network of innovators creating social impact.

“I have played a small part in The Melting Pot’s journey over the past few years and I am delighted to take up the position as CEO. I am looking forward to bringing my knowledge and expertise of the changing world of work to lead The Melting Pot on this next stage of their journey.”

Carpenter will continue to act as founder and ambassador for organisation.

She said: “After successfully leading The Melting Pot to where it is today - a thriving hub of over 300 members, it’s time for me to step down as CEO and move into a different role. I will be developing the consultancy arm of The Melting Pot, focusing on new ideas and partnerships that create social impact in Scotland and beyond.

“I am delighted that Helen Denny is taking on the role of CEO – she has been an integral part of our community for over five years. In this time, she has led on strategic and innovation projects for us and has built great relationships with the team and our stakeholders.

“As a thought leader in the changing world of work she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise.”
