The New Scots Connect Map has an online directory of support organisations.

Scottish Refugee Council has launched a new and improved map of refugee-supporting groups in Scotland, making it easier for people to find help in their local area.

The New Scots Connect Map is an online directory of groups and organisations across Scotland offering services and support to refugees and people seeking asylum.

The charity’s Refugee Support Service aims to reach people in every part of Scotland with essential information, services and support and connect refugee-supporting communities across the country so they can work together to welcome New Scots.

As part of this work, the New Scots Connect Map, which was first launched in 2018, has been redeveloped to make it more user friendly.

It is now quicker and easier for people to search for everything from information and advice to ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) classes, befriending services, social activities and specialist support.

Scottish Refugee Council Policy Officer, Callum Macdonald said: “This map is a vital tool in ensuring people seeking refugee protection in Scotland know where to turn for help and how to connect with their communities.

"Grassroots groups play such an important role in welcoming New Scots and supporting the process of integration. By providing information and, offering activities that bring people together to share and celebrate their cultural heritage, they nurture a sense of belonging and community membership.”

The New Scots Connect Map lists more than 180 groups and organisations across Scotland. Just enter your location to look for groups near you. You can also search by type of support, for example, women’s groups or sports activities.

Groups and organisations wishing to join the New Scots Connect network should contact one of Scottish Refugee Council’s five Regional Integration Coordinators.
