Nominations are open for the Age Scotland Awards 2017.

The awards celebrate inspirational people who are making the most of their old age and recognise individuals and groups who have led the way in supporting older people.

Nominations are now being sought for seven categories, with the winners being announced at a ceremony at Perth Concert Hall on 29 March.

Brian Sloan, the charity’s chief executive, said: "The Age Scotland Awards are the highlight of the year for us as an organisation. It's our chance to acknowledge the incredible work that is done day in, day out by the most wonderful people.

“There are thousands of brilliant people and groups across the country who are working tirelessly to support and enable older people to love later life and the awards is our opportunity to say thank you.

“In addition, we also hope to inspire older people by telling the stories and celebrating the work of older people themselves.

“Last year we gave Lynn from Aviemore our Volunteer of the Year award. Lynn selflessly gave so much time to give back to the community and it was wonderful to see her get the rightful recognition for her astounding efforts."

Awards will be given in the following categories: Campaigning and influencing, Best working partnership, Services for older people, Member group of the year, Volunteer of the year, Lifelong learning award and the Age Scotland inspiration award.

Nominations can be made by downloading a form from the Age Scotland website. Closing date for applications is 25 November.
