Scottish charity prepares to open new shops

Sense Scotland is marking the easing of restrictions with the opening of three new stores

A Scottish charity is preparing to open a trio of new stores.

Three new Sense Scotland charity shops are amongst those opening when restrictions ease on Monday 26 April.

New shops in Leven, Motherwell and Rutherglen will help boost the charity’s income, helping them to support disabled children, young people and adults to live meaningful and independent lives. Sense Scotland say their shop managers are expecting a surge in donations – and a healthy number of customers when they re-open all their shops for business later this month.

Head of retail Sue Blair said: “We’re delighted to have three new shops on the books and there’s been a lot of interest already from local communities keen to support us.

“We’ve had enquiries across all areas regarding donations – and we’ve been asking people to hang on to those items until we open on the 26 April. We look forward to seeing our valued - and new - customers soon.”

With safety the paramount consideration, appropriate measures will be in place including social distancing markers, and donations being subject to a 72-hour ‘quarantine’ to minimise risk. Sense Scotland is also looking for volunteers to help carry out a variety of shop duties, including creating window displays, assisting customers and working the till.
