Young people across the country took part in ScotJam

Nearly 1,000 young people across Scotland have had the chance to get outdoors at have an adventure this summer as part of Scouts Scotland’s ScotJam on tour.

While restrictions have meant that The Scouts could not hold their normal summer camp at Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead centre, they took the camp on tour providing 16 days of activities across Scotland.

ScotJam is being run by Scouts Scotland outdoor instructors and volunteers. 960 Cubs and Scouts from across Scotland are taking part in these high quality outdoor education adventure days.

Nicola Donaldson, Scouts Scotland Cub Commissioner said: “It’s been brilliant to have young people back outdoors having adventures again.

"We’ve seen their confidence grow over the day as they try out new activities and make new friends. It’s also been great to have our volunteers out developing their outdoor skills as they work together with our professional instructors. Most of all it’s been so much fun for everyone involved.”

Action-packed events like ScotJam have been limited over the past year and been greatly missed by young people - they offer a chance to try new activities, develop new skills, and create lifelong memories.

Jess Cronin, aged 8 from Fife said: “The best thing was the kayaking, I loved it, I want to go back next week and the week after and the week after!”

ScotJam is running at different locations across Scotland until the end of July.
