Katherine Jenkins performed a one-off show in Aberdeen

World-famous classical singer Katherine Jenkins has raised £30,000 for Scottish social care charity Cornerstone.

The Welsh born soprano performed a one-off charity concert, organised by Aberdeen’s Lord Provost’s Charitable Trust, in the city’s His Majesty’s Theatre recently.

Jenkins was supported by the Aberdeen-based chamber choir, Con Anima and Zoe Hodi, a 15 year old violinist at the Aberdeen Music School.

Edel Harris, chief executive of Cornerstone, which provides care and support services for adults, young people and children across Scotland who live with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, dementia and other support needs, said: “We are very grateful to the Lord Provost’s Charitable Trust for choosing Cornerstone as the beneficiary of what was a fantastic night, and to BP for sponsoring this special concert.

“The £30,000 raised will be a tremendous support to our work providing specialist services for adults, young people and children across the north-east who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities and other complex support needs.”

Lord Provost George Adam added: “This was a very special one-off concert for the Lord Provost’s Charitable Trust and I am delighted that so much money was raised for Cornerstone, through ticket sales and additional generous donations on the night.”
