Craigsfarm Community Development Project is offering a look into their new community hub to be opened early next year
Craigsfarm Community Development Project is a social enterprise based in Craigshill, Livingston, creating a community hub that is due to open in early 2018.
The Craigsfarm Centre is a community resource centre which has provided a number of initiatives for the local community over the years, from a communal laundrette to film workshops and a catering service, as well as a volunteer-run local newspaper.
Social enterprise CFCDP is currently renovating the centre and building a new community hub which will have a range of facilities including a community café, children’s play area, events and meeting space, offices for rent, and a counselling room for delivering mental health support.
The community hub will also offer a number of projects which promote social inclusion and employability, helping vulnerable people in the community by giving workshops and training to provide them with useful skills.
The Craigsfarm Centre was maintained by West Lothian Council but a £1.2 million Big Lottery Fund grant awarded to the centre last summer has allowed CFCDP to start turning it into a fully community-owned space.
The centre is currently closed while refurbishment takes place but the social enterprise hopes it will increase community pride when the hub opens early next year.
