Social enterprise launches challenge for second year

 

Fundraiser will raise cash to tackle homelessness

Social Bite is encouraging people to hop, skip, jump, run or squat their way to helping break the cycle of homelessness with its 100 Mile Challenge.

It will take place from 1 September, ending on 10 October to mark World Homeless Day.

Back for its second year, participants across the UK can choose whatever way they’d like to cover 100 miles within 40 days to raise funds which will support Social Bite’s efforts in three main areas: housing, jobs, and food for people who are affected by homelessness.

Current participants have already signed up with a variety of ways of achieving their goals. Whilst some are opting to cycle, run, or swim their 100 miles, others are powering through in fancy dress, as a three-legged race, or completing a route that spells ‘Social Bite’ when viewed in the Strava app. Their fundraising efforts, showing there are no limits to the creative ways people can get involved.

The money raised will be going directly to those who need it most, funding the charity’s free food service accessible through a number of its coffee shops in Scotland, as well as supporting the newly proposed Social Bite Villages in South Lanarkshire and Dundee, Scotland.

Josh Littlejohn, co-founder of Social Bite, said: “The 100 Mile Challenge is a great way for people to get involved in helping us raise crucial funds in a fun way which suits them, and can easily fit into their schedule.

“We always love seeing the ways people decide to get involved and encourage them to get creative with how they do their 100 miles. Be it solo, a group of friends, or colleagues, we can’t wait to see how you approach this challenge, and remember to share your progress on social media so we can join you on your journey!”

Challengers can earn rewards for hitting fundraising targets, from t-shirts and tote bags to shout-outs and spotlights from the charity as a big thank you for their efforts.

Social Bite encourages participants to share their journey through social media, email updates, and on their fundraising pages.
