Famous faces from the world of sport are backing the event for Chas

A wealth of famous faces from the world of sport are backing the latest virtual fundraiser for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (Chas).

The Big Sporty Quiz takes place on Facebook Live at 7pm on Friday 28 August, with questions being asked by sporting legends including Frank McAvennie, Hannah Miley and Liz McColgan.

Broadcaster David Tanner is hosting the evening, and will put participants’ sporting knowledge to the test over seven rounds covering a range of topics from football history to rugby, tennis and golf.

Other well-known sporting personalities taking part in the Big Sporty Quiz include Scottish rugby stars Jonny Gray and Stuart McInally, footballer Lizzie Arnot, Scotland women’s football manager Shelley Kerr, ex-Scotland rugby player Kenny Logan and his wife, TV presenter Gabby Logan. Line of Duty star Martin Compston, who is a former professional Scottish footballer, will also be asking a question on the night from his home in Las Vegas.

In addition to the quiz, there will also be a raffle and an online auction with prizes including a signed Scotland rugby shirt, a signed Scotland rugby ball, a top signed by both Chris Hoy and Adam Peaty, an Auchentoshan distillery tour, two premiership hospitality match tickets and a two-night golf trip to Aberdeen.

Emma Moore, Chas community fundraiser and quiz organiser, said: “We are so grateful to all the amazing stars for giving up their time so generously to support our Big Sporty Quiz especially to our event host, David Tanner, who has over 20 years of experience in broadcasting.

“We would also like to say a huge thank you to all our fantastic sponsors who have donated some truly incredible prizes.

“The Big Sporty Quiz is shaping up to be a fantastic fun event and we hope as many people join us as possible on the night. By taking part, you’ll not only have a fun night, you will also be helping Chas continue its work keeping the joy alive for some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children and their families.”

To sign up for the quiz, register on the event’s Facebook page.
