Sylvia Morrison, 90, wanted to do something memorable to mark the 40th birthday of St Columba's
One of a charity’s most loyal supporters has embarked on a personal project to help mark a milestone.
Sylvia Morrison has raised more than £30,000 for St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh over many years.
And to mark the charity’s 40th birthday the 90-year-old has launched a special story book.
Sylvia’s Stories features a host of tales that Morrison used to tell her children. Each story is accompanied by illustrations by Alex Hills - which can be coloured in to bring the characters and stories to life - and the foreword has been penned by Scottish business guru Sir Tom Farmer.
“St Columba’s Hospice holds a very dear place in my heart and as such, I wanted to do something special to mark its 40th anniversary,” said Morrison.
“These stories are very personal to me and brought a lot of joy and laughter to my own children growing up. It’s wonderful to be able to share them so that other families can enjoy them too.”
Jon Heggie, director of fundraising for at the hospice, said: “Sylvia is a long-time ambassador and supporter of the hospice so we’ve been delighted to have the opportunity to help her share her stories in such a creative way.
“The activity book makes a great stocking filler and all of the money raised through sales will help us care for and support people with life-limiting conditions and their families.”
All proceeds from the publication and sale of the activity book will go to St Columba’s Hospice and copies can be purchased from the hospice charity shops, in the Iona Café at the hospice or on the charity’s website.
