Some charity workers are now eligible to be tested for the coronavirus

Charity workers who fear they have Covid-19 may now be eligible to be tested for the virus.

It was announced at the weekend that the testing of people in Scotland is being expanded.

Access to coronavirus testing in Scotland has been widened and will now be determined via a prioritisation matrix for key workers. Those who are eligible will be tested at one of four drive-through sites in Scotland.

Those now eligible include staff working for third sector organisations supporting people and children who are vulnerable and staff who are involved in volunteering. Testing is being targeted at people who are self-isolating - because they or a member of their household has symptoms - to enable them to get back to work as quickly as possible.

Full details of which key workers are now eligible for testing is available on the Scottish Government website.

Health and social care workers were already eligible for testing and this will continue primarily through NHS facilities.
