Millions of pounds were donated to UK charities during the fundraiser, with the government set to match-fund the money raised

A major TV fundraising drive has raised tens of millions of pounds for charity.

The Big Night In saw Children in Need and Comic Relief join forces in a bid to support charities during the coronavirus crisis.

Almost £27.4m was donated during the three-hour event, which aired on Thursday night (23 April). The UK Government has pledged to double all donations received.

The money will go to causes that support vulnerable people around the UK whose lives have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The entertainment extravaganza saw stars such as Peter Kay, Stephen Fry and David Walliams all appear from home. The show also included the premiere of the video for an official charity single - a cover of Foo Fighters' track Times Like These - recorded by stars such as Dua Lipa, Chris Martin, Ellie Goulding, Jess Glynne, Paloma Faith, Mabel and Rag 'N' Bone Man.

You can donate on The Big Night In website.
