He will see through the development and implementation of the organisation’s first ever commercial strategy
National charity Change Mental Health is creating a new directorate within its organisation to help it develop and grow.
Jonny Cobbold will become director of strategic projects and development and will seek to drive forward the development and implementation of the organisation’s first ever commercial strategy.
Edinburgh-based Change Mental Health has seen significant growth in the last few years and the strategy will serve as a platform to innovate the ways in which the charity generates income, works in partnership and the way in which it approaches growth.
This will all aim to produce sustainable revenue that will further enhance the charity’s ability to support many more people affected by poor mental health and mental illness across Scotland.
Jonny Cobbold said: “Change Mental Health is an incredible charity that provides vital, lifesaving support to thousands of people across Scotland. As with all new commercial ventures, we’re going to need some patience, tons of goodwill from our partners and customers, and a little bit of luck along the way, but I’m honoured to be leading on this exciting new chapter for the charity.”
Over the next 12 months through this remit, Change Mental Health will focus on enhancing its training offer to offer more learning opportunities to organisations and individuals across Scotland, making its not-for-profit café, Hopetown Coffee on Edinburgh’s Broughton Street, the best place to stop for a hot drink, meeting or catching up in the capital city and planning its first mental health conference in late 2025.
Alongside the development of Change Mental Health’s commercial strategy, Jonny will lead on vital work in partnership with colleagues across the third sector, not least the Suicide Prevention Scotland Outcome Lead work, where the charity currently partners with Penumbra Mental Health on Outcome 3.
Nick Ward, CEO at Change Mental Health, said: “We are thrilled to have Jonny in this position, who has already proven himself as a great asset within the third sector. We are incredibly excited about the potential of this new position and its structure within the charity, with potential to reach more people in different and unique ways than how we have done in the past.
“It will help contribute to our mission of fighting stigma, providing brilliant services and making sure that no one needs to face mental illness alone.”
