He joins an illustrious list

Photographer and Instagrammer Conor McDonnell has become a WWF UK ambassador.

He joins the likes of Sir David Attenborough, Anna Friel and Ben Fogle in WWF’s council of influential people dedicated to solving the urgent issues facing the planet.

McDonnell, 25, is a committed environmentalist with a passion for capturing images of wildlife and landscapes in the Arctic, many of which show the beauty of the region as well as the effects of climate change.

One of the UK’s most esteemed celebrity photographers, his shot of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding in 2014 went on to become one of Instagram’s most-liked photos, with over 2.4 million Likes.

McDonnell said: “I feel incredibly honoured to have become an ambassador for WWF. I have seen the impact of climate change on the Arctic and want to do everything in my power to help to protect this precious region and the rest of the world.

“I want to be able to use my voice to tell everyone, but particularly young people, why it’s so important to consider our impact on the environment and show what’s at stake if don’t take action.”

The snapper has joined the likes of Ellie Goulding, Niall Horan and Calvin Harris on their global tours, using innovative and intimate digital photography to bring these artists closer to their fans on social media.

It is this blend of celebrity and environmental photography which has enabled him to engage with millennials, and with the help of his network of world-renowned artists, is raising awareness of some of the biggest issues affecting the planet.
