Research into the role of culture and values in governance in Scottish charities is being carried out
Charity trustees are being invited to participate in a research project.
Stephen Otiende, from the University of Strathclyde, is carrying out research into the role of culture and values in governance in Scottish charities.
As part of this, he is looking for trustees to take part in a short survey. He said: “In Scotland many statutory care functions are being devolved to charities. This means that an increasing number of people rely on charities for some of their most basic needs.
“There are well-documented instances of failures of governance of charities and the impact this has had on the beneficiaries of these charities. This led us to the question of what does good governance look like in a charity and what are the drivers of this.
“We are trying to investigate: what the drivers of good governance are?; What best practice in governance looks like?; and What can Scottish charities learn and take away from our research to inform their practice?”
The survey is open until this Friday (7 February) and can be completed online.
