Line of Duty star Martin Compston wears his Alzheimer's Scotland tartan scarf with pride – even in LA!

He's currently working out in LA, but film and TV star Martin Compston is not too hot to don a scarf in support of his favourite Scottish charity.

The Line of Duty star is not only wearing his Alzheimer Scotland tartan scarf with pride – he's sent the team a wee video to wish them Merry Christmas.

Compston, who grew up in Greenock and is one of Scotland's most successful TV stars, is a long-standing suppporter of Alzheimer Scotland.

He said: "Dementia can be a particularly cruel condition. Not only because of the physical and mental pain of those affected but also the heartbreak for friends and family of seeing people they've loved and cherished their whole lives ebbing away in front of them. But, I've also seen first hand how it can bring families together, and how people can find strength they never knew they had inside of them.

"That's why this Christmas, I'm very proud to wear my Alzheimer Scotland tartan scarf, in honour of the millions of people living with dementia in Scotland and worldwide."

Last month Compston raised £1,300 for the charity after auctioning off a Billy McNeill inspired garden gnome. Celtic star McNeill revealed he has dementia earlier this year. In his spare time, Compston is a member of Lawn Legends, which produce garden gnome versions of sporting and musical stars.
