Intandem said right now the number of volunteer mentors doesn't match the level of need.
A charity offering mentoring to children in Scotland’s care service has launched an urgent volunteer drive.
Intandem, working alongside Barnardo’s, has said it is desperate for volunteer mentors in Ayrshire.
The charity is the only mentoring programme in Scotland dedicated to supporting children and young people experiencing the care system or at risk of care.
Intandem said right now the number of volunteer mentors doesn't match the level of need.
Kayleigh Law, 21, is a volunteer mentor with Barnardo’s in Ayrshire.
She told the Largs and Millport News: “I was nervous when starting out mentoring but it has been one of the most enjoyable experiences which I am so glad I have done.”
“Being a supportive individual who is there to listen is so important for young people's mental health and wellbeing.
"Just knowing that you are there to support them when needed can have a huge impact on their life."Mentoring also helps build your experience with young people, which can be a great addition to your CV.”
