The new series explores how spirituality can build resilience and foster hope

Voluntary sector organisations have united to launch a new podcast.

CVS Inverclyde (CVSI) has brought together faith-based and third sector organisations in Inverclyde to explore how spirituality can build resilience and foster hope in a new podcast series.

The podcast series, called Conversations about Spirituality, will have four episodes focusing on four themes: loss, hope, kindness and belonging. Ian Arthur from The Salvation Army in Port Glasgow hosts each episode and guest speakers have been invited from faith-based and third sector organisations across Inverclyde.

Episode 1 on loss is available to listen to now on YouTube or Anchor.

CVSI chief executive Charlene Elliott, said: “We’re excited to launch our Conversations about Spirituality podcast series as part of the work of our resilience network. I want to thank all the guest speakers for taking time to record the podcasts and share their thoughts and experiences.

“It was great to bring together a diverse range of third sector and faith-based organisations in Inverclyde – hopefully this will help us to feel a bit more connected at a time when we have to stay apart.

“We anticipate this podcast series will be the first of many for CVSI and we’re excited to share more podcasts (covering a range of themes involving Inverclyde’s third sector) with you soon.”

Ian Arthur from The Salvation Army in Port Glasgow leads each podcast. He said: “As we have come through such a traumatic time in our community, we wanted to share some positives, celebrate the amazing things our neighbourhoods have done together.

“Spiritual health isn't just about whether you are part of a worshiping community of faith or if you go to church, it's about having a pervasive hope in what could be, a belief that things can be better, and that's what we were trying to put forward in the podcast.

“It has been great to meet so many amazing people recording the podcasts, and I really hope that our community finds it useful, and that it leaves us all asking ourselves what our own stories are, and where our own hope is."

Each new episode will be released every second Friday. For full details, visit the CVSI Twitter page.
