Scotland’s walking charity has named its new chief executive.

Kevin Lafferty will join Paths for All in September.

The role of the charity’s chief executive became vacant following the sudden death of Ian Findlay CBE in March of this year.

Lafferty will join from Scottish Forestry where he is the national policy advisor for access, health and recreation. He is passionate about walking and believes walking is the natural choice to improve people’s lives.

Marcus Sangster, chair of the charity, highlighted Lafferty’s experience in working across a range of legislative and community health and wellbeing agendas.

He said: “The Paths for All board are delighted to welcome Kevin. He brings experience from an extensive and successful 25 year career within the public sector having demonstrated inspirational leadership of teams from his current role at Scottish Forestry and previously within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s physical activity team.

"Kevin has an invaluable mix of the right skills, connections, and experience to ensure Paths for All will thrive as we lead the way out of the pandemic to a happier, healthier greener Scotland.”
