Research reveals the biggest givers

Edinburgh has been revealed as the UK’s third most generous city.

It comes on the back of GoFundMe research showing the UK to be the third most generous country in the world.

Scotland’s capital topped the chart last year but was relegated into third by Derry and Cambridge this year respectively.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, GoFundMe donors responded to the widespread impact with more than £450 million worldwide, raised through more than nine million donations for people and charities affected by the pandemic.

John Coventry, the funding website’s senior international director, said: “The depth and breadth of kindness shown across the UK in 2020 has given us all some inspiration in a year to forget.

Those people who care for the crying and helpless world will reap their reward of life with peace and happiness in life, and in the next life too. Those who hoard their wealth for their posterity will be indirectly destroying their posterity through making many of them lazy and unproductive.
