Your chance to shape the future of social enterprise in Scotland

Census fast approaching cut off date

An opportunity to shape the future of social enterprises in Scotland is fast approaching deadline.

The 2024 Social Enterprise Census closes on 27 September.

The census is open to all social enterprises operating in Scotland and is conducted by the Diffley Partnership on behalf of the Scottish Government. It takes around 20 minutes to complete.

Now in its fifth cycle, the census reviews the scale, reach, and challenges of Scotland’s enterprising charities and social enterprises. Every two years the project reports on the scale, reach and contribution of social enterprise activity across the country as well as the characteristics, prospects and needs of the organisations behind it.

Whether you’re delivering community projects, managing an arts initiative, providing social care, or running an environmental service, your input is vital.

The organisers say participating in this census means far more than just filling out a survey – it is an opportunity to have your voice heard and shape a supportive ecosystem for social enterprises in Scotland.

They add: "Every single response is important, and we want to hear from you as part of the inspiring social enterprise community.

"By sharing your organisation's experiences and insights on your evolving needs, you'll contribute to a deeper understanding of the support structures and resources required by social enterprises in Scotland to thrive."

The Scottish Government is committed to using the data gathered from this census to inform policy making, influencing the future direction of government priorities for the sector.

They want to hear from organisations that:

  • Generate income through contracts or fees
  • Have social or environmental goals
  • Reinvest profits to further these goals
  • Have a constitution preventing private gain from assets

It only takes 20 minutes to share your experiences, but your input can shape the future.

Make sure your voice is heard by completing the survey below:
