A new collaboration between more than 20 charities aims to discover and nurture people who they consider to have great potential

The next great social leader could already be working at the heart of one of the sector’s youth organisations.

That’s the hope of a group of 22 youth charities who are about to embark on a programme that aims to discover and nurture mid-senior level managers from their teams who they consider to have great potential.

Clore6: Youth Sector Leadership Programme will see nominees from mid-senior level management teams at organisations across the UK such as Girlguiding, NSPCC and The Junction take up their place on the six-month programme in October.

Utilising its experience of developing social leaders, Clore Social Leadership has worked with the charities to create the bespoke programme which will provide participants with the necessary skills to become resilient and adaptive leaders.

By investing in their emerging leaders, they are ensuring the future of their organisations and the people they serve

The programme will have applied learning at its heart. Building their collaborative skills, participants will work in teams to complete real-life leadership challenges which they must deliver while on the programme, bringing their adaptive learnings back to their respective organisations.

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will join Clore Social Leadership’s network of Fellows

“Strong leadership is pivotal to navigate through organisational and sector challenges,’ said Shaks Ghosh, chief executive of Clore Social Leadership said.

“The chief executive officers from these youth organisations recognise this which is why they approached us. By investing in their emerging leaders, they are ensuring the future of their organisations and the people they serve.

“We invite additional coalitions of organisations to work with us on similar bespoke programmes so that we can support the leadership development needs of the third sector.’

Julie Bentley, Girlguiding chief executive, added: “The collaboration behind Clore6 is a really important move to invest in the future of our sector. I’m proud to have worked with so many colleagues alongside Clore Social’s expert team to get this off the ground.

“We know that young people are facing tough challenges today and what our sector offers can make all the difference to their lives.

“We need strong future leaders to build a resilient and vibrant youth sector that listens to and empowers young people and crucially works and innovates together to offer the help they need to succeed.”
