Sponsored content: course aims to make better third sector managers
In order to address the economic, social and environmental challenges of today and tomorrow, the management and leadership of our sector needs to be well-skilled and to reflect our society.
The voluntary sector suffers from few formal training, development for its management and leadership teams. Furthermore, our staff are often promoted into managerial roles without adequate training to take on these new responsibilities. The Chartered Management Institute has found that over 80% of managers (across the economy) are so-called 'accidental managers'.
The Covid pandemic demonstrated the ability of our sector to flex and respond to the key challenges of our times. However, our ability to respond has also raised expectations of the impact the third sector can deliver in areas where we might previously have expected other bodies and agencies – such as those in the public sector – to intervene. And all of this in a challenging economic context.
Whatever challenges your organisation faces (funding, staffing, ED&I, governance, reputation, sustainability), the ability of its leadership and managers in addressing them is critical. Better managers make for better run organisations.
The Challenges Group has 25 years’ experience of supporting careers and optimising organisational performance. We have trained well over 27,000 people, supporting them to gain experience, build confidence and develop work-related skills. We are also a Strategic Partner of the Chartered Management Institute, offering certification, recognition and qualification of managerial and leadership skills.
We would like to offer you and your colleagues the opportunity to take part in our Chartered Management Institute-certified Managing with Purpose course, which we have designed specifically for leaders and managers in third sector and purpose-led organisations.
This programme is designed and delivered by third sector professionals. Covering the key principles of management, leadership and managing team performance as well as exploring the benefits of Continuous Professional Development and reflective practice, Managing with Purpose provides individuals with a well-rounded skill set and a support network of peers in the sector.
The course is suitable for new managers or managers looking to develop their skills and gain professional recognition to aid future career development, build resilience and develop good practice within your organisation. In addition, participants become Chartered Management Institute (CMI) members, gaining access to resources, events, career development and other opportunities. For those who wish, it is possible to upgrade to a Level 5 Qualification in Management and Leadership.
This online course will be delivered via Zoom on six consecutive Wednesday mornings in October and November. Places are limited, so please get in touch if you have any questions, or to book: training@thechallengesgroup.com
