​This week leading housing bodies joined to condemn the "flawed" universal credit roll out. Fearing a huge negative impact on social housing tenants, housing groups say the new scheme has to be radically improved before it is fit for purpose. This call is just the latest condemnation of universal credit with campaigners, charities and politicians from all political parties among those claiming it is unworkable. Yet the UK government is determined to push ahead with the current system, not heading the warnings from campaigners. Is it leading to unmitigated disaster?
