The Airbnb boom has led to travellers having even more options in terms of places to stay at destinations around the world.
However the rise in properties being used as short term holiday lets has led to calls for greater restrictions.
Research commissioned by the government found a three-fold increase in Scottish properties let for short-term use since 2016, with 32,000 recorded in May of this year. Critics have said Airbnb-style properties are driving residents out of certain areas, and increasing rents and house prices. As TFN reported earlier this week, a new ethical travel accommodation website has been set up in a bid to ensure communities benefit more from short term lets.
