TFN poll: is it time the lockdown was lifted?

This poll is over 4 years old

Without it, our already high death rate would undoubtedly be higher – and our NHS could have become overwhelmed.

However, while people have for the most part understood the measures and restrictions and have willingly complied, there has been a growing feeling recently that some want the lockdown lifted.

In particular, business figures have been arguing that it is time some – or even all – restrictions were lifted.

This flies in the face of public polling which has showed that most people back continuing the lockdown.

That’s why we are asking: is it time the lockdown was lifted?

I think the avoidance of a second peak is the absolute priority. I am looking forward to the government setting out really clearly their mitigation strategy: will we have regional lockdowns for example or colour coded warnings to advise us of what we we can and can't do.

Sadly it looks like the UK Government is going to place their big business donors' desires above that of the safety of the public. As has been said, you can repair an economy (and every recession creates opportunities) but you can NEVER bring back the dead.
