Tanya Steele
WWF UK has appointed Tanya Steele as its new chief executive. She assumes her new role on 1 January 2017. She will take over leadership of WWF UK at a key moment in its history when public policy measures on conservation are under threat whilst the pressures on our environment continue to increase. Tanya will be a leading figure, both in the UK and in the global WWF Network, working for deeper and quicker measures to protect the natural world. She joins from Save the Children, where she has been its interim UK chief executive since February, whilst working extensively across its global network.
Pamela Nash
HIV Scotland has appointed Pamela Nash as its new head of policy and campaigning. Previously, Pamela served as an MP for Airdrie and Shotts for five years. During this time she was the chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on HIV and Aids at Westminster where she successfully campaigned for the legislative change on HIV instant result self-test kits and the UK commitment of one billion pounds to the global fund to address HIV, TB and malaria.
Barbara Smith
Barbara Smith is the new chief executive of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS). Barbara was previously the managing director of RZSS and has been acting as interim chief executive since the departure of Chris West, the previous chief. She will take up this new position immediately. The RZSS operates Edinburgh Zoo and the Highland Wildlife park. Jeremy Peat, chair of the board of trustees, said: “I am delighted to announce that, following a very thorough externally-supported process with consideration of a range of internal and external candidates, the board of trustees of RZSS has appointed Barbara Smith as the organisation’s new chief executive officer. We all look forward to working with Barbara in her new capacity, to the benefit of the society.”
