Port of Leith Housing Association has appointed Charlotte McNeill as communications and customer engagement manager. Charlotte previously spent five years working as communications officer at the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations. This is a new role as the housing association has previously been supported by PR and communications consultants. Charlotte will set up the association’s in-house internal and external communications functions, and take the lead on raising awareness of the association’s work to help make Leith an even better place for people to live, visit and do business.

The National Deaf Children’s Society in Scotland and Northern Ireland has appointed former Scottish Government specialist advisor on sensory impairment, Angela Bonomy, as its new director. Angela has previously worked in the public and private sector including roles within NHS Scotland, Boots and the government. In her new role she will support more than 3,000 deaf children and young people in Scotland, and work with decision-makers and professionals to overcome the barriers that hold deaf children back. The National Deaf Children’s Society in Scotland and Northern Ireland gives expert support on childhood deafness, raises awareness and campaigns for deaf children’s rights, so that they have the same opportunities as everyone else.

The Boys' Brigade has appointed John Sharp as its new director for Scotland. John has 14 years of experience in the voluntary sector in Scotland and Ireland and is currently the assistant director for Coll based education charity, the Project Trust in the Hebridean islands. Originally from East Kilbride, John has worked for charities, including Oxfam and the World Council of Churches as well as spending time volunteering in Malawi and the Middle East. He will take on the role in April. He is replacing Bill Stevenson who is now the chief executive officer of The Boys' Brigade UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Social enterprise letting agency Homes for Good has appointed entrepreneurship and growth specialist John Anderson as chair of its investment arm Homes for Good Investments Limited. John is head of SME Engagement at Strathclyde Business School and has fulfilled non-executive chairman and director roles for a number of high growth businesses. In 2014, he co-founded Entrepreneurial Scotland, having previously been chief executive of the Entrepreneurial Exchange for more than 12 years. He also is a programme director for the Growth Advantage Programme which delivers training to businesses leaders in Scotland. Established in 2014, Homes for Good Investments Ltd, purchases empty and dilapidated properties and transforms them into high quality homes to be managed by Homes for Good CIC.
