Shared Care Scotland has appointed Ellie Sandercock as Short Breaks Fund Manager (Grants), to lead the management and development of the charity’s grant funding programmes for organisations supporting unpaid carers. Ellie previously led the fundraising and marketing team at social care charity Carr Gomm and has a keen interest in the personalisation agenda, service design, and public perceptions of the social service sector. Ellie’s background is in international development and she has held a variety of programme management and funding roles in the UK and overseas over the last decade.

Arts and Business Scotland (ABS) has appointed Katy Eccles as membership and stakeholder manager. Katy joined ABS in October 2015 as administrator. In her new role she is the key point of contact for members and stakeholders and supports the development of a bespoke range of governance and management training, consultancy services and networking events. Katy graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2009 with a BA Hons in Art History and is a passionate advocate of Scotland’s cultural sector. She has previously spent two and a half years working as both an art consultant and gallery manager, delivering large scale public art projects and curating regional art awards in Perth, Western Australia.

The Independent Living in Scotland project (ILiS) has appointed a new policy projects officer. The ILiS project, hosted by Inclusion Scotland, works with the Scottish Government, disabled people and other key stakeholders on the strategic interventions that make equality and human rights the reality for disabled people in Scotland. Susie Fitton joins ILiS from Capability Scotland, where she spent eight years leading on policy and campaigns work. She has over 10 years’ experience in the voluntary sector with varied roles that have included providing generalist advice to disabled people, housing policy work and running campaigns that promote disability equality. She said: “I can’t wait to get stuck in and start to achieve positive policy changes for disabled people in Scotland, ensuring that independent living and human rights are not simply words on policy papers but are at the heart of disabled people’s actual experiences.”
