Staff will take on challenges to fundraise for disability charities

A Glasgow-based construction firm City Building is supporting hundreds of children with spina bifida and hydrocephalus by backing a specialist charity.

Over the coming months, the company’s workforce will take on various challenges to raise funds for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland), which has been named as an official charity partner of the firm for the financial year.

City Building’s previous fundraising efforts have seen employees endure tough trials from back waxes to weight loss challenges and sponsored runs.

The construction firm has set a target of £10,000 which will be used to provide personalised home and hospital support for families in Scotland with children who suffer from the lifelong complex conditions associated with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

In addition to providing vital funds for SBH Scotland, City Building will continue to raise money for existing charity partner Cash For Kids, an organisation supporting disadvantaged children in the West of Scotland. City Building’s charity partnership with Cash for Kids is now entering its third year.

Dr Graham Paterson, executive director at City Building said: “SBH Scotland has a proven record of providing first-class care to children of all ages affected by some very complex and debilitating conditions.

"This commitment, is very much in line with our strong focus on supporting the wellbeing of Scotland’s young people.

Deborah Roe, fundraising director at SBH Scotland said: “In order to continue providing care to families who need it the most, we must raise at least £1million each year. I am hugely grateful to City Building and its employees for dedicating the time and effort to helping us reach this goal.”
