More than £30,000 has been raised in just a few weeks to help carry out vital repairs to the Shawlands social enterprise
A successful social enterprise has made a final drive to ensure vital repairs are made to its building.
The Glad Cafe and residents in the area are attempting to raise £40,000 to fix their "wrecked and leaky" roofs, stonework and guttering of their Pollokshaws Road building.
And so far the Raise the Roof campaign has seen more than £30,000 gathered in just a few weeks.
The venue in the southside of Glasgow saw its campaign boosted by Scots supergroup Deacon Blue playing an intimate gig at The Glad – which helped to raise £10,000.
The tiny show was held just four months after the group performed to 12,000 fans in a 30th anniversary hometown gig at the SSE Hydro.
A Glad Café spokesperson said: “We have 11 days left to raise the final £10,000, and with the sort of generosity people have shown us, we feel sure that there are more out there planning to pledge and get us to £40,000 by the time we reach 3 June - our deadline when we achieve all or nothing of the pledges!”
