Game of Thrones actor James Cosmo is amongst the stars who have backed Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day

Scots stars of screen, stage and sport have donned their Christmas jumpers for a charity campaign.

Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, now in its sixth year, urges the public to make the world better with a sweater, by donning a festive pullover on Friday, 15 December.

Workplaces, schools, nurseries, universities and households in their thousands have signed up in Scotland, with suggested donations of £2 set to flood in.

Game of Thrones and trainspotting actor, James Cosmo is just one of the stars who has taken part.

Belle & Sebastian frontman and Save the Children supporter, Stuart Murdoch modelled his jumper in the Glasgow Botanic Gardens.

Top rugby team the Glasgow Warriors also got in on the action, sporting some rather large knitted attire.

Save the Children’s head of Scotland, Mark Ballard, said: “It’s wonderful to see so many people across Scotland preparing to dig out their silliest sweaters to support vulnerable children in Scotland and around the world. Christmas Jumper Day is Save the Children’s biggest single fundraising event, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who is planning to support our cause and the children we work with.”

A host of Scottish stars have taken part in Christmas Jumper Day in the past including Alan Cumming, Lorraine Kelly, Ashley Jensen, Deacon Blue, Colin and Justin and The Proclaimers.
