It's launched its A Small Donation, A Big Smile campaign
The Glasgow Care Foundation is doubling its efforts to raise vital funds to help vulnerable people celebrate Christmas their way with the launch of its festive campaign.
Its A Small Donation, A Big Smile This Christmas campaign is set to raise funds to buy vouchers, donating them to families in Glasgow who are most in need so they can afford to buy presents for their children or some food for Christmas dinner.
Elaine Sergeant, fundraising and marketing manager of Glasgow Care Foundation, said: “As a charity, we have become increasingly concerned about the crisis people will face this Christmas because of fuel poverty and the choice between heating or eating. This year, we hope to put back some of the magic in Christmas with gift cards to purchase toys from Santa’s list or food for Christmas dinner – giving people the dignity of choice.”
Last year, the campaign raised £10,000 with vouchers of £50 being issued to families in need. This year, the charity hopes to raise a minimum of £20k, doubling their efforts due to the rise in cost of living, meaning a £100 voucher will be given per household.
The Glasgow Care Foundation is also encouraging supermarkets to get involved with the initiative.
George Clark, a trustee of the charity, continued: “Any retailers that would like to donate gift cards or even match what we spend, we would love to hear from you. We guarantee that every penny will be gratefully received.”
