The Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund is hosting a 6k challenge at Strathclyde Country Park this summer

Scots are being encouraged to raise funds for charity and get fit at the same time.

After a successful first event last year, the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) has decided to run an annual fun run.

Registration for the 6k race at Strathclyde Country Park on Saturday 2 June is now open.

The event is being held to raise funds for the charity’s life-changing work around the planet.

SCIAF director Alistair Dutton said: “Our first fun run was such a huge success and we’re doing it again, this time we’ll complete the full 6k circuit right around this wonderful park.

“Those who took part in our first fun run had a great time and this year’s event promises to be even bigger and better.”

Last year well over a hundred people from across Scotland took part including Deacon Blue singer-songwriter Ricky Ross, who travelled to Zambia last January to see SCIAF’s work with poor farmers first hand.
