The Queen's Nursing Institute has handed £32,500 to Scottish projects
Projects led by nurses have received a funding boost.
The Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland (QNIS) – a charitable organisation which supports community nurses – is committing £32,500 to initiatives across Scotland.
The 2017 Catalysts for Change scheme sees grants of up to £5,000 handed to nurse-led projects.
Projects that will benefit include Nature Walks for Wellbeing, an outdoor therapy project, and Get Moving, a Glasgow based project which operates accessible walks from a GP practice in the east end.
To qualify for funding, the projects must be led by a nurse who works in the community and involve a range of others from across agencies and sectors with the skills needed to make a difference.
Clare Cable, QNIS chief executive and nurse director, said: “We have selected a wonderfully diverse group of projects to take part in the programme for 2017, who will work alongside a wide range of third sector organisations and other people.
“They all have at their core an aspiration to change and improve the health and wellbeing of the people their services reach, and these exceptionally motivated groups are committed to making a real difference.
“We are excited to watch where the journey will take these projects and we are ready to support them as they become real catalysts in their own communities.”
