One Parent Families Scotland has been supporting people in Falkirk for 30 years, with guests invited to a special party this week
A charity service marked a milestone anniversary this week with an Alice in Wonderland themed party.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of One Parent Families Scotland (OPFS) in Falkirk, a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party was held on Wednesday (18 July).
Guests enjoyed face painting and fun activities with a picnic of tea, sandwiches and cakes provided.
Based in Maddiston, OPFS Falkirk supports families with a wide range of issues. The charity’s family centre offers a community hub which supports single parents experiencing financial difficulties by helping with emergency items, access to fresh produce, community meals and a school clothing bank.
Carrol Wilcox, manager of the Falkirk service, said: “At OPFS Falkirk we are delighted to have been serving Falkirk from the heart of Maddiston for 30 years. We have helped to transform the lives of thousands of people in the community during this time. The difference our staff, sessional workers and volunteers make to the lives of single parents, children and families is invaluable and transformative.”
Satwat Rehman, director OPFS, paid tribute to the efforts of the local service.
She said: “Celebrating the 30th anniversary of our Falkirk service is a great testament to the work of all our staff and volunteers over this period.
“We take great pride in knowing, that not only do we listen and advocate for single parent families but that we also make them an active and real part of our organisation. We are proud to have developed a wide range of programmes that have and continue to support single parent families in Falkirk and across Scotland.”
