Complaints had first been raised in April 2024
An Edinburgh charity has been cleared following an investigation by Scotland’s charity regulator.
OSCR found no evidence of wrongdoing in relation to the governance of the Edinburgh Social Enterprise Network.
OSCR received concerns about the governance of the charity, and an inquiry was opened in May 2024.
Complaints were first raised in April 2024, with OSCR’s initial assessment of the concerns indicating that there were some regulatory issues it needed to make inquiries about, including an allegation of a dominant trustee, governance concerns – including concern that the charity had been acting out with the powers of its governing document, conflict of interest - and issues with the recording of trustee meetings.
Through correspondence with the charity, OSCR established that the trustees had to manage a complex and protracted HR issue in late 2023 and early 2024.
OSCR’s inquiry concluded that the charity trustees acted with the care and diligence required of charity trustees acting under the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, and found no evidence of wrongdoing in relation to the governance of the charity.
A number of points of learning were also published as part of the inquiry.
