George Thomson will leave Volunteer Scotland at the end of this month after 19 years at the helm
Volunteer Scotland chief executive George Thomson has announced his retirement.
The 64-year-old has worked in the sector since 1982, and has led the drive to increase volunteering in Scotland for the past two decades.
Alan Stevenson, communications and IT manager at Volunteer Scotland, will take over as interim chief executive when Thomson departs at the end of the month. Thomson will be continuing in his role as chair of the bid team to bring the IAVE World Volunteer Conference to Glasgow in 2023.
