Millican, a long standing Macmillan supporter who previously raised £20,000 for the charity by winning Deal or No Deal in 2012, encouraged those who came to one of her 142 Home Bird tour shows to dig deep.

Thanking those who stumped up the cash Millican said: “It is a very worthwhile charity that is close to my heart and everyone who donated at my tour has helped Macmillan to continue to support people around the UK with cancer and their loved ones.

“What a bunch of smashers you are."

Lynda Thomas, director of fundraising at Macmillan said the amount raised is more than enough to pay for two Macmillan nurses for a year, helping Macmillan to support people living with cancer and their families.

“A big thank you to Sarah and her audiences for their support,” Thomas added.

“We can’t continue to offer this support without the help of our fantastic fundraisers, like Sarah, so we are hugely grateful.”
