The Cookie Bar is aiming to generate income for schools and other good causes

Brits love their biscuits - and a social enterprise is hoping to tap into the nation’s love for sweet treats to help raise funds for schools and community youth projects across the UK.

The Cookie Bar, which generates income for schools and causes supporting young people with its tasty cookie-subscription service, is hoping to cook up a funding boost by enrolling a host of the nation's food and lifestyle bloggers to share their own biscuit recipes as part of the 30 Days of Cookies campaign.

Among those taking part are MasterChef UK runners up Bill and Jack and adventurer Sophie Radcliffe, with recipes covering everything from home favourites such as the choc-chip cookie, to the more experimental coriander crunch cookie.

Biscuit fans will be able to judge for themselves if the blogging bakers crumbled under the pressure, with each of the entries available to drop through your letterbox via Cookie Bar's subscription service.

Abigail Deffee, director of the foundation behind the Cookie Bar, said: "Britain's favourite things are tea and biscuits, so we're hoping our love of cookies will help us continue to raise money for good causes.

"Since we launched in 2011, we've helped thousands of kids across the UK and even further afield - but we want to do even more. We're calling on people across the nation to use their elevenses to help us help more people than ever."

The social enterprise reinvests 100% of its profits back into communities, which also provide valuable work experience opportunities for young people with disabilities.

The Cookie Bar is a COINS Foundation initiative and was officially opened in 2011 by Lord Joffe, patron of COINS Foundation. The foundation supports a wide range of social initiatives designed to share knowledge, experience and opportunities throughout local communities and kickstart development journeys for young people.
