Fife housing association partners with mental health charity

Kingdom Group and Change Mental Health are to launch a new support service.

A Fife housing association has announced a new partnership with a Scottish mental health charity.

Kingdom Group will join forces with Change Mental Health, welcoming Isla Aitchison as a new Mental Health Resilience Support Worker on its Tenancy Support Service (TSS) team.

Isla’s role has been created through a new partnership with Change Mental Health and marks the first collaboration of its kind between the two organisations.

Through this initiative, Isla will be working closely with Kingdom’s customers over the next 12 months, providing essential support to help them build mental, emotional, and behavioural resilience.

Her work will focus on enhancing customers’ capacity to cope with challenges, ultimately contributing to more secure and sustained tenancies, and making sure they have the tools and confidence to thrive within their communities.

Richard Barnett, tenancy support services coordinator, said: “ I am delighted to see this exciting new project launch.

“At Kingdom we want to provide customers with the support they need to sustain their tenancy independently, yet our customers frequently find that poor mental health poses a barrier to them living the life they want.

“This service will give them the skills they need to move forward and support our mission of providing more than a home.”

Change Mental Health has over 50 years of experience and supports more than 10,000 people each year across Scotland.

They provide transformational services for people making sure that everyone has access to the support they need, when they need it and in a way which works for them and are committed to creating a society where no one faces mental illness alone.

This partnership is a vital step in making sure customers across Kingdom’s communities have access to holistic support, helping them manage their tenancies more effectively by addressing key mental health concerns.

Susan Grant, area manager for Fife, Tayside and Angus at Change Mental Health, said: “Change Mental Health is delighted to be partnering with Kingdom Housing Association to offer our Resilience service to tenants.

“We know that mental health issues can become significant barriers to successful tenancy and community integration. Providing early intervention and support can help deal with the stresses of everyday life that could be affecting a person’s mental health.

“Isla’s role in delivering this service to Kingdom Housing Association tenants will enable them to live a fulfilling life and build more resilience so they can become more adaptable and have the flexible support they need to move forward.”
