The ScottishPower Foundation has shared £30,000 between seven charities

Charities across Scotland are celebrating a funding boost.

An awards fund of £30,000 will be shared amongst seven charities - who learned the news at the ScottishPower Foundation Awards that took place in Glasgow this week.

Ranging from community arts centres, health charities and educational programmes, the national projects were recognised at a ceremony which took place at the new ScottishPower headquarters.

The ScottishPower Foundation was established in 2013 to support charitable projects and reinforce the energy company’s commitment to charitable work throughout the UK.

The awards ceremony is in its fourth year and has become a yearly platform celebrate the work of the projects which the foundation has provided funding to during 2017. This year it donated more than £1.8 million to 26 organisations.

The winner of each category received an additional £5,000 funding boost with four runners-up receiving £2,500 each for their charity.

Ann McKechin, trustee and executive officer of the ScottishPower Foundation, said: “We’re incredibly proud to support these organisations and be part of their journey, their work is remarkable. Everyone on the shortlist should be very proud, and congratulations to all our winners and runners up.”
