CRUK goes from strength to srength despite difficult operating enviroment
Fundraising income accounted for £540m of Cancer Research UK’s turnover last year – an increase of 2%.
Its total income was £672m which itself is an increase of 6% on 2018
Legacies were the largest source of donated income. It increased to £188.6m in 2019 from £181.5m in 2018.
Income from Race for Life, run by CRUK, fell to £32m in 2018 compared to over £50m in 2015.
The charity says that for every one pound raised, 82p goes to beating cancer.
Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, chair at CRUK said: “We’re in a solid financial position, thanks to another strong fundraising effort, with more funds available for research than almost any time in our history.”
