Scouts Scotland hope to take ownership of one of the famous Bucket Trail statues
Scouts are hoping to recruit a cheeky Scottish legend.
The Oor Wullie Bucket Trail has been raising awareness of charities and causes across Scotland.
Six Scout units have been working in partnership with DC Thomson over the past year to create Scout Oor Wullie, and featured him on their unit badges and the merchandise they sold to help raise funds to help get them to the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia this summer.
The statue has been living outside the Radisson Red hotel in Glasgow. At the end of the trail, all of the sculptures will be auctioned off to raise funds for children’s hospital charities. The Scouts would like to raise enough funds to bid for Scout Oor Wullie so they can bring him to a new permanent home at Scout Adventures Fordell Firs in Fife for members to enjoy for years to come.
The Scouts have set up a Just Giving page so they can raise funds to make this happen, with more than £2,000 raised so far. All funds gathered will go to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
