With half of Scots in need of first aid training, St Andrews First Aid has created an online resource to help more people learn to save lives

Half of Scottish adults have never had any first aid training and wouldn’t know what to do if a friend or family member needed medical help.

Now Scotland’s leading third sector provider of first aid training has found a way to boost the number of Scots with the skills and confidence to save a life.

St Andrews First Aid has created an e-learning platform to teach people first aid skills in the comfort of their own home.

The courses include baby and child life saving skills and adult life saving skills, and are designed for members of the public or staff in work places.

Michelle Ferguson, managing director of St Andrew’s First Aid Training and Supplies Ltd, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of our new e-learning first aid training products. In an international industry such as first aid, the importance of delivering effective and easily understandable training solutions is key to further both the general public and health professionals learning and skills.

“We believe that our new courses will dramatically improve the number of Scottish adults with first aid skills. Now parents, carers and clinicians can access this training at a time and place that fits into their busy lives.”

The course was created with support from e-learning experts Medihow and Doczero, and is delivered through information slides, detailed explanation videos, multiple-choice questions and real-time simulations.

Before completing the course, the learner will take a theory test and complete an interactive scenario.

Once successfully completing their course, each candidate will be presented with a certificate of completion from St Andrew’s First Aid.
