Scottish movie start Gerard Butler joined TV presenter Ross King to promote Scotland's Kiltwalk sponsored walk events

Hollywood A-lister Gerard Butler is the latest celebrity to call on fellow Scots to sign up for the Kiltwalk.

The Paisley-born star is joined by Ross King, LA Correspondent for ITV, who was recognised in the New Year honours list with an MBE for services in broadcasting, the arts and charity.

The dynamic duo recorded a video message and Valentine’s is on their minds it seems from some of their cheeky banter. In the clip, Gerard Butler’s maths skills are put to the test with Ross King telling the star of 300 about the Kiltwalk’s unique fundraising formula.

Ross King said: “It’s that time again! And what’s even better this year is that The Hunter Foundation is going to pledge 40% of whatever you donate. So if you give £1 that will go up to £1.40.”

With Gerard Butler adding: “It’s Kiltwalk time! Go to thekiltwalk.co.uk for more information.”

Last year, more than 14,000 Scots took part in the Kiltwalk helping to raise over £2.5 million for over 780 charities across Scotland. Thanks to the extra 40% from The Hunter Foundation, for every £100 raised by a walker, your chosen charity receives £140.

The Glasgow Kiltwalk is the first event this year, taking place on Sunday 29 April. The Mighty Stride begins at Glasgow Green, ending 23-miles away in Balloch. With the 14-mile Big Stroll and the six-mile Wee Wander there is a walk for everyone.

Paul Cooney, chief executive of the Kiltwalk, said: “We’re thrilled that the Kiltwalk excitement has spread to Hollywood once again! And we would like to say a huge thanks to the proud Scots Gerry and Ross for being so vocal with their support.

“We want the 2018 Kiltwalk to be bigger than ever before, raising even more money for Scotland’s charities. We urge you to sign up for one of the four Kiltwalks taking place this year in Glasgow, Aberdeen, St Andrews to Dundee and Edinburgh.”

Kiltwalks for 2018 include Glasgow on 29 April, Aberdeen on 3 June, St Andrews to Dundee on 19 August and Edinburgh on 16 September. Each walk has three distances to choose from to suit people of all ages and abilities.
