“These are brilliant trustee appointments, as we embark on major projects to deliver care to children and families across Scotland"
Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (Chas) has appointed five new trustees to its board.
The new members are former executive director at Audit Scotland Antony Clark, former group chief executive at Mactaggart & Mickel Group Ltd Ed Monaghan, head of finance for reporting and accounting at Heineken UK Joanne Hamilton, senior financial control and treasury manager for global law firm CMS Nicola Buchanan and former chief financial officer of M&G Investments, Sean Fitzgerald.
Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and oversight of Chas’s work. As a charitable company limited by guarantee, the charity’s trustees are also the directors of the company. Each board member is committed to improving the lives of babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions and their families.
Welcoming the new members, chair of the Chas board, Donald Macdonald, said: “I am delighted to welcome Antony, Ed, Joanne, Nicola and Sean. Their individual expertise and shared commitment will be invaluable as we continue our mission of ensuring that no-one faces the death of their child alone.”
Chas CEO Rami Okasha added: “These are brilliant trustee appointments, as we embark on major projects to deliver care to children and families across Scotland in new ways, and as we plan significant capital investment in our hospices. They will bring great skill and experience to the charity and I look forward to working with them.”
Board members are appointed for a three-year term initially, with the option of reappointment.
Chas provides unwavering care to children who may die young, and their families, at every step of their journey so that no-one has to face the death of their child alone.
Respite and palliative care for the whole family is provided via its two hospices, Robin House in Balloch and Rachel House in Kinross.
A specialist outreach service is also offered by the Chas at Home team which supports families in their own homes across the whole of Scotland. In addition, families are also supported by Chas’s Diana Children’s Nurses and specialist children’s consultants working in hospitals across the country.
The charity works closely with the Scottish Government, NHS boards and local authorities to provide seamless care for children and their families.
